Council approves payment reports, permits and budget line change; grants authorization approved

The Glens Falls City Council voted to approve routine financial reports, several municipal permits and a budget line adjustment for downtown beautification and event support at its July 22 meeting.

Council members approved the controller’s manual check payment report, community development manual payments totaling $4,433.61 and the city’s 2025 budget community support occupancy-tax disbursements in the amount of $65,000. The council also approved the warrant and a series of mobile food licenses and permits enumerated on the agenda.

Under mayoral staff business, the council approved a personnel line decrease of $19,946.27 in account 11210 (to support downtown beautification and power plantings) and a corresponding increase to account 506410-4479 in the same amount. The motion passed by voice vote.

The council also approved mobile food license applications numbered 136-2025 through 138-2025 and permits numbered 46-2025 through 48-2025 and permit number 50-2025, contingent on layout approval and compliance with regulations as listed on the agenda. Several council members noted the need to notify existing downtown food vendors in advance so businesses can plan for competition and setup.

In community development, the council authorized a grant application for "Environmental Protection Act" funding in the amount of $200,000 to support redevelopment planning for a former tennis and swim club and related Broad Street corridor infrastructure and connectivity analysis. The authorization in the motion included the city's agreement to fund the applicant’s 10 percent share of the project up to $20,000 and authorized the mayor to sign relevant documents.
