The Prince George's County Board of Education accepted committee reports and approved the consent agenda (items 15.1–15.7 and 15.9–15.14) by no objection at its Oct. 23, 2025 business meeting. Board vice chair Jonathan Briggs presided.
Board members pulled item 15.8 — a resolution to continue a foundation school partnership for the 2025–26 school year — for clarification. Associate Superintendent Tranel Bowman explained the partnership provides up to 15 seats at a nonpublic facility for students who require interim alternative educational settings or 45-day removals for serious disciplinary incidents (for example, bringing weapons to school or causing bodily injury). Bowman said the district has maintained this partnership for about 25 years, that the placement is used when an immediate out-of-school alternative is required, and that the district receives a cost share from the Maryland State Department of Education.
Board members asked whether the seats are used and whether the number has changed; Bowman said the district regularly uses the seats, sometimes with temporary overages during crisis periods, and that seats have been maintained at the current level. With those clarifications, the board adopted item 15.8 by no objection.
Earlier, Board Member Felton Moss presented the Policy and Governance Committee report and the Climate Change Action Plan Ad Hoc Committee chair presented that committee's work; the board accepted both committee reports by no objection. The meeting adjourned at 8:59 p.m.
