Manteno board approves $504,262.50 in bills, including $378,311 for MFT road resurfacing

The Manteno Village Board voted Tuesday to approve payment of $504,262.50 in bills, including $378,311 for a motor fuel tax (MFT) road resurfacing project and TIF bill number 3 for $1,312.50.
Trustee Barry moved to approve the bills and Trustee Boudreaux seconded. During roll call on the motion Trustees Barry, Boudreaux, Zimbelman and Simmelman voted “yes,” and the mayor also voted in favor; the motion carried. Board discussion identified a large portion of the total as MFT resurfacing work and a separate line item of roughly $61,000 for garbage fees, according to remarks during the meeting.
The board’s payment list covers multiple resurfacing and patching locations, including Sixth Street, Marble, Shale, South Poplar, Walnut, Park and Third Street, according to Public Works comments during the meeting. The board said work was largely finalized in September and invoices were being processed for payment.
No further public hearings or separate ordinances were attached to the payment motion. Trustees noted the finance committee will next meet Monday, Nov. 17, at 5 p.m. in the Village Boardroom for regular financial review.
The vote concluded the night’s substantive business; trustees also used the meeting to remind residents of upcoming events and committee meeting dates.
