Stonecrest Development Authority members told to complete new annual training after July; vacancy to be filled at December council meeting

Executive Director Bridal told the Stonecrest Development Authority on Oct. 22 that newly enacted legislation requires authority members who joined after July 2025 to complete two hours of training each year to retain voting rights.
"After July this year, you're required to do 2 more hours of training every year that you own the authority. Otherwise, the code says, your voting rights or any authority will be suspended until you complete the training," Bridal said during the meeting. Bridal said she would send links to members giving access to transcripts and the Carl Vinson Institute training schedule and would work with staff to register members.
Bridal said the additional trainings are usually virtual; there may also be in-person options that require travel to Athens for the Carl Vinson Institute. She said there is likely a cost for at least some courses but that she would confirm the price and that the Stonecrest Development Authority (SDA) would cover registration costs for members.
Separately, the authority announced that member Elijah Ajaye had "sent his formal resignation in" because he and his family are changing residency. The chair said he expects to nominate a replacement and present the appointment for City Council approval at the December council meeting.
Bridal also asked staff to review member term dates on the authority’s website because a few terms expired during the year; she said she planned to reappoint members whose terms were expiring unless those members indicate they do not wish to serve.
The authority did not take any votes on training policy at this meeting; members were instructed to review the Carl Vinson Institute schedule and report preferred dates so staff could register them and process payment.
