The Westfield Advisory Plan Commission on Aug. 4 approved a variance permitting a 4-foot encroachment into the eastern 40-foot yard building setback for a proposed building expansion at 1030 East 160th Street, the property occupied by Central Indiana Insulation.
Dane Crabtree of the Community Development Department described the request and noted the site’s corner-lot status: "The property is a corner lot, which means that the property has 2 front yards... the UDO's front yard setback standards are required to be met in both instances." Crabtree said the development plan for the expansion had already been reviewed by the technical advisory committee and that staff had received no public comments on the request.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing. Commissioners asked no substantive follow-up questions, and a motion to approve the variance carried on roll-call vote. The commission also approved the findings of fact for the item.
The approval permits the petitioner to proceed with the expansion as shown on the plans on file, subject to standard plan-review and permitting processes.
