District reports July collections down; Weisenberg fifth-graders approved to attend Nutcracker performance

Collections and revenues: Finance staff reported real estate taxes collected in July totaled $4,500,000, transfer tax receipts were about $35,000 and delinquent real estate tax collections were about $26,000. Staff said collections for July were down compared with the prior year; the transcript records the prior-year share as 14.93% and the current-year share as 13.25. Preliminary August collections were reported as up. The presenter said state and federal revenues had not been released because the state budget had not yet passed; earned income tax collections for July were down by $19,000. The presenter said the district should be financially stable through the new year despite the delayed state budget.
Student activity: Staff said that Weisenberg Elementary fifth-graders will attend a Nutcracker performance in December at a cost of $760 to be charged to student activities; staff noted there was no increase in the per-ticket fee from last year.
Next steps: The board will receive formal finance reports at the next meeting for additional review.
