Board schedules action on transportation and maintenance contracts; annual service contracts reviewed

The Northwestern Lehigh School District board reviewed operations contracts at its workshop meeting and scheduled action on several agreements for the regular business meeting in two weeks.
First-call transportation agreement: A staff member described a first-call transportation agreement the district uses when it cannot cover a run because of driver shortages. The contract, last used in February 2024, provides vehicles (car, minivan, nine-passenger or wheelchair van) and charges by mileage at an agreed-upon rate. The presenter said the agreement is under solicitor review and staff will ask the board for approval on Sept. 17.
ProASIS annual contract: Staff described the ProASIS annual contract, which provides water-treatment services for boiler and chiller systems to prevent internal corrosion of piping and boilers. A staff member said the contract is renewed annually and noted a modest $200 change from the prior year.
McClure annual maintenance contract: The board heard that McClure provides annual maintenance for chillers, large air handlers and other large mechanical equipment, including filter changes, operational inspection and cleaning. Staff reported there was no price increase this year and that the vendor had held pricing steady for at least five years.
Timing and next steps: For the transportation agreement and the maintenance contracts, staff said formal approval will be taken in two weeks after solicitor review and final contract language are complete. The ProASIS contract will likewise be considered at the next business meeting per staff comments.
