Rescindments scheduled: Staff explained several older policies will be rescinded in two weeks after the related policy group (800 operations group) is finalized. Policies identified for rescindment or retirement include 618.1 (policy number referenced during discussion), 706.1 (disposal/surplus property, textbooks and supplies—transcripted as 7061), 712 (use of district-owned vehicles), 810.3 (school vehicle drivers — staff noted the topic is already covered by state and federal laws and other district policy), and 715 (use of fax machines). The presenter said retained, required language from retired policies has been moved into updated policies (for example, required language moved to policy 706, property records).
Clarifications on surveillance and audio/video: Board members asked whether video surveillance policy applies to exterior cameras and to events such as athletic contests. A staff member said anything the district controls on closed-circuit television is governed by the policy; the board does not control recordings made by private attendees at public events. A separate bus audio/video policy was noted to govern recordings on school buses.
