Sharon Barnes read a written statement into the record saying the Planning and Development Commission, the Board of Architectural Review, the Zoning Commission and the Summerville Preservation Society had recommended denying the change. "Our town's unified development ordinance was created to prevent overdevelopment and to preserve neighborhood scale," Barnes said in her remarks read aloud to the council.
