The Tangipahoa Parish Council voted to give 60 days to the heir of a fire-damaged property listed in the condemnation hearing as 25017 (address recorded variously as Corbin/Colby/Carbon Lane) and directed staff to pursue demolition and cleanup if the owner does not act.
Parish staff member Jerry told the council the property suffered a fire in December 2020 and that staff has worked with the heir, Christie Bartholomew, "since March to try to get this resolved." Jerry said Bartholomew had not been able to obtain assistance and that staff would like to give her more time before starting the parish remediation process.
Parish President Robbie Miller described the property as part of broader adjudicated-property work and said the parish has been trying to avoid liens or forced remediation when possible. Miller said the parish will obtain bids and clean up the property "if not" resolved within the additional time.
Councilmember Mister Snagra moved to give the owner 60 days; Mister Risdell seconded. The motion passed on a roll call (recorded yes votes included Mister Risdell, Mister Mayes, Mister Wells, Mister Beal, Miss Hyde, Miss Cietak, Mister Senagra, Mister Engraffier, Mister Joseph and Mister Havas).
The council action followed staff remarks that they had attempted outreach to the property owner and preferred to allow another opportunity to resolve the matter before the parish contracts for demolition and places liens.
Clarifying details recorded at the hearing show the fire date (December 2020), the assessment number for the property (6118623), repeated address variants in the meeting record, and that staff will solicit contractor bids if the owner does not act within the 60-day period.
