Summary

The El Paso de Robles City Planning Commission voted 5-0 on Aug. 12 to continue consideration of a time-extension request for the Peterbilt sales and service center so staff can renotice the project under new zoning rules.
Staff said the extension application was timely but the city’s recent zoning code overhaul changed requirements in the C-2 zone so that auto dealerships now require a conditional use permit. "It just so happens that as a part of the big zoning, overhaul, we changed the rules so that in the C-2 zone, auto dealership now requires a conditional use permit," said Katie, planning staff. Because that change requires alternate noticing, staff asked the commission to continue the item and re-notice the project as a conditional use permit hearing.
A motion to continue the item to the next available meeting and to renotice passed on a 5-0 roll call. Commissioners Neal, Christiansen, Koechler, Connolly and Chairperson Koverubias voted yes; Commissioners Bridal and Marlow were absent. Commissioner Christiansen seconded the motion; the mover was not specified on the record.
The continuation means the commission will not decide the time-extension at this meeting; staff will publish new public notice and schedule the matter for the appropriate conditional use permit hearing under the revised C-2 provisions. No substantive decision on the underlying time-extension was made at the Aug. 12 meeting.
The item was listed on the agenda as a time-extension request for the Peterbilt sales and service center. The transcript does not include an ordinance number or specific hearing date; staff said the item will be renoticed and appear on a future agenda for a conditional use permit hearing.
