The Danvers Planning Board on Aug. 12 approved a site plan filed by EMD Millipore Corporation to add approximately 144 parking spaces across two adjacent properties at 12 and 17 Cherry Hill Drive in the town’s I‑2 industrial district.
Attorney Jill Mann presented for the applicant. She said Millipore’s consolidation of operations back to 17 Cherry Hill after post‑pandemic changes left the company with a net parking shortfall once a leased satellite lot (54 Cherry Hill Drive) is closed at the end of 2025. Millipore described a three‑shift operation with overlap and said the expansion would increase on‑site parking to 462 spaces, which the company expects will cover peak shift demands and overlap periods.
Civil plans prepared by ASB Design Group show the parking additions along with stormwater management, landscaping, invasive species mitigation and a one‑way circulation pattern for parts of the lot to reduce footprint. The applicant said Conservation Commission concerns were addressed and that no parking would be placed within the 50‑foot buffer to wetlands.
The board’s draft decision and conditions require the approval be recorded at the Southern Essex Registry of Deeds and that the applicant satisfy the Engineering Division memorandum dated Aug. 12, 2025. Planning staff added a condition requested by board members that the applicant submit a dedicated snow‑storage plan (a separate sheet) prior to endorsement; the applicant agreed to deliver that to staff promptly. The decision also noted one requested waiver: proposed parking stall width of 8.5 feet (zoning minimum is 9 feet).
Jean Hartnett moved to approve the site plan; Tim Spiddle seconded. The board voted by roll call: Jean Hartnett, Jim Sears, Tim Spiddle, Michael Decoulis and Chair Louis George all voted yes.
