Mission Valley project deadline extended to Sept. 30; board approves change order with no added cost

The Victoria ISD Board of Trustees approved a change order on Aug. 7 extending the Weaver & Jacobs Constructors Inc. contract for the Mission Valley project by 30 days, moving the district's contract completion date from Aug. 31 to Sept. 30, 2025.
District staff said the extension addresses delays that resulted when the district took responsibility for relocating some on-site portable buildings and when the moving vendor experienced permitting issues with the Texas Department of Transportation. Administration told trustees the extension carries no financial cost to the district and provides Weaver & Jacobs additional time to complete their remaining work, including dirt work and the bus loop.
Administrators noted that the bus loop likely will not be completed by the first day of school but that the contractor expects to finish shortly thereafter. Weaver & Jacobs' representative Gary attended the meeting to answer questions and said the company had built a one-month buffer into the new schedule.
Trustee Ms. Pruitt moved the extension and Ms. Nelson seconded; the board approved the change order during the meeting.
