Board appoints Modson as district delegate to ASBA assembly; to provide further guidance at next meeting

The Chandler Unified School District governing board voted unanimously Aug. 6 to appoint Mrs. Modson as the district’s delegate to the Arizona School Boards Association (ASBA) Delegate Assembly scheduled for Sept. 6, 2025.
Mrs. Modson accepted the appointment but said she would attend virtually. Board members noted the assembly will consider ASBA's political agenda and asked for time to provide Modson guidance on how to vote. The board agreed to revisit policy recommendations and provide direction at its Aug. 20 meeting.
Board members who spoke during the discussion underscored Modson's experience with ASBA business and conferences and encouraged other board members to volunteer if they wished to serve. One member asked whether the proposed political agenda materials were available; staff pointed board members to an attachment in the meeting packet and said the assembly materials begin on page 4 of the attachment.
The motion to appoint Modson was moved and seconded, and the board voted by voice to approve the appointment unanimously. Mrs. Modson and staff said they will bring the draft political agenda back to the board at the Aug. 20 meeting for formal direction.
