Monrovia resident asks council for 4-way stop at Greystone and Ivy; city to run warrant analysis

John Schneider, a Monrovia resident, told the City Council that the intersection of Greystone Avenue and Ivy Street has long been hazardous and urged installation of a four-way stop after a recent crash that drew multiple emergency responders.
"There was a fire truck with 4 firemen, ambulance with 2 paramedics, and 7 police cars with 9 police officers," Schneider said, describing the emergency response to a crash the prior Friday. "This could have been a serious accident... I hope you'll join me, and please take a look at this matter and give us the 4 way stop."
Dylan, City Manager, said traffic-safety requests must be evaluated through a state-mandated warrant analysis before new stop signs are installed. "We can't just go place a stop sign," Dylan told the council, and said staff will refer Schneider's request to the traffic safety committee and perform surveying to determine whether a four-way stop is warranted.
Dylan also mentioned the city's Safe Streets survey on the municipal website and encouraged neighborhood residents to submit information about pedestrian and traffic-safety concerns.
No formal motion or vote on traffic changes occurred at the Aug. 5 meeting; the city manager said follow-up will occur through the committee and staff survey work.
