The Lakeway Zoning and Planning Commission voted unanimously, 5-0, to recommend approval of a special-use permit for SendHound, a pet grooming business, to operate at 900 Ranch Road 620 S, Building A Suite 100.
Staff presented the item as a routine special-use permit request for a C-1 zoned property in the 620 overlay district; the business is a grooming operation (not boarding) and is proposed to operate daytime hours. Eric Carr provided the staff report and explained that a special-use permit is required because of the property’s proximity to residential areas under city code.
Applicants Kevin and Andrea Stearns were present. The applicants and staff described the business as a grooming and wellness service (memberships, grooming, baths, nails, ear care and similar services) rather than overnight boarding; the applicants said their service would be staffed (no self-serve dog-wash for customers). The unit is an end unit in a business park; the parties discussed parking and potential future expansion into an adjacent vacant unit.
Commissioners heard no public opposition during the meeting. A motion to approve the special-use permit with a 20-year term carried by voice vote, 5-0. The commission’s recommendation will go to City Council for final action as required by code.
