ODOT names four senior engineers, fills maintenance and district leadership roles

Director Gatz announced four senior staff appointments at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation during the commission meeting on July 17, 2025, naming Steven Gauthier as local government division engineer; Jonathan Arps as state maintenance engineer; Will Snipes as District 5 engineer; and Lauren January as the Roadway Division engineer.
The appointments place staff with long ODOT careers into roles overseeing municipal coordination, maintenance operations, district construction and statewide roadway design. Steven Gauthier will lead the local government division that coordinates projects on the off-highway system, drawing on private-industry and bridge-inspection experience, the director said. Jonathan Arps — who joined ODOT in 2003 and has served as District 1 maintenance engineer in Muskogee — will oversee the department's intelligent transportation system, participate in budget planning for field districts and promote consistency through the maintenance management system.
Will Snipes was introduced as District 5 engineer after serving as the district's construction engineer; his duties include oversight of maintenance and construction across 11 western Oklahoma counties. Lauren January, who has served as state traffic engineer since 2022, was named roadway division engineer and will oversee the design of highway projects statewide.
The director praised the appointees' experience and said the department had many qualified candidates. Commissioners and staff offered congratulations during the meeting.
No formal commission vote was recorded to ratify these personnel announcements during the meeting; they were presented as administrative appointments and recognitions.
