Councilman Jones and other councilmembers thanked public works staff, the Hesburgh fire department (which provided a water connection during the cleanup), Community Service A. Brooks and other partners. Council members noted the program involved protective gear, coordination with sanitation and public works for materials and that the city will share photos and recaps with the community.
Council members described the effort as a collaborative pilot that could provide young people with practical skills and potential small-business opportunities such as pressure-washing or graffiti-removal services. No formal funding action or ordinance was taken; the announcement was recorded under new business and characterized as community-led implementation with administrative support.
Council members said they will include a recap and photos in council communications and thanked the volunteers and partner agencies.
