Finance staff asked the board for permission to occupy space currently used by the Juvenile department once Juvenile moves into its new building, to set up an ERP implementation lab and training space. The staff requested use of several upstairs offices and a conference room to accommodate trainings of up to 12 people and to give the implementation team an uninterrupted workspace.
Kirby Garlet of the finance department described the plan and said the team would coordinate with Juvenile staff and other county staff (Susan, Haley, Glenn, Matthew, Vicky and Ian were named as participants) to prepare the space. Garlet said the team would need the space for about 18 months and that Juvenile staff had indicated they would not need the space once they vacate.
Commissioners indicated they did not see a problem with the proposal, asked staff to ensure Juvenile had fully vacated before moving in, and said there was no immediate competing use identified for the building. No formal motion or vote was recorded in the public transcript; staff and commissioners described the agreement as an administrative direction contingent on Juvenile’s move-out schedule.
