ARB approves door replacements at 48'52 South High Street to match recent storefront work

The Architectural Review Board approved a minor project review to replace three doors on the combined parcel at 48'52 South High Street.
Staff said the property consists of two adjacent parcels in the Historic District South and that the ARB previously approved facade improvements earlier in the year, including removing two bay windows and adding a storefront. The current request would replace three doors (one for 48 South High and two for 50/52 South High) with aluminum-clad wood doors matching the style and color recently approved by the board. "These doors would match what the board recently approved for the door ... the door color and the trim is in a black shade and with a neutral trim," planning staff said, recommending approval with no conditions.
Owner John Leff told the board the building was in poor condition when the owners bought it in 2014 and described efforts to restore the facade closer to its historic appearance. He thanked staff for assistance and said replacing the currently inexpensive doors would improve the building's overall presentation.
With no public comment, a motion to approve the minor project review with no conditions passed by voice vote among members present.
