Los Alamos student recounts ICUA youth rally experience, wins scholarship

Mila Mosley, a Los Alamos High School senior, spoke to the Board of Public Utilities on Sept. 3 about attending the International/Intermountain/ICUA youth rally in Nampa, Idaho, as the community’s annual delegate.
Mosley described outdoor team-building, leadership workshops and sessions on utility careers. She said camp leaders observed participants for a mid-week scholarship interview; Mosley received a $400 scholarship (one of several awards at $100, $200, $400 and $800). She also said the group visited the Idaho State Capitol in Boise and met a state senator during the trip.
Board members praised the presentation, asked about scholarship criteria and whether Mosley sees a future in utilities. Mosley said she is interested in utilities careers and in engineering and math classes, and that the camp helped build public-speaking and leadership skills.
