The City of Grand Prairie this month launched a new online customer portal for its water utility, city communications staff said.
To enroll, customers should visit www.paywaterbill.gptx.org and enter their account number or use the "find my account number" link. The enrollment process asks users to enter the statement balance from the prior two months or to follow an emailed invitation from noreply_waterbilling@gptx.org and click the register button included in that message.
Once enrolled and logged in, the portal allows customers to sign up for pre-authorized payments, opt in to paperless billing and view current balances, statement history and payment history. Customers may also make a one-time payment without logging in by clicking "1 time pay" and following the prompts after entering a valid account number and ZIP code, the communications staff said. The portal also supports starting the move-in or move-out process online.
The announcement provided step-by-step enrollment instructions but did not include details about data security practices, fees for certain payment methods, or whether older account formats are supported. City communications staff said, "It will take you through the portal and how to use it."
