Grand Prairie unveils renovated main library entrance

The entrance is part of a renovation project that began more than 10 years ago to modernize the city’s oldest public library. City communications staff said the exterior improvements include distinctive signage, an inviting plaza and a mural just inside the front doors. The library’s interior was remodeled in 2016.
City communications staff said the project aimed to create a "wow factor" at the front door and inside the building so visitors of all ages would feel welcome. "We want them to feel excited, welcome, and it would be a welcoming effect, and you come in and go, wow, this is a great place to be," the staff member said.
Grand Prairie’s main library is open daily except Sundays. For hours and information about new programs and services at all of the city’s libraries this fall, the city directs residents to gptx.org/library.
The announcement did not specify the total cost of the entrance work, exact dates for earlier phases of the project beyond the 2016 interior remodel, or which contractor completed the exterior work.
