District reports 79 new certified hires and an uptick in kindergarten registration

Human resources and innovation staff reported staffing and enrollment updates ahead of the first day of school. Dr. Sarah Marriott and Dr. Moore told the board the district welcomed 79 new certificated staff at an August summit; 10 of those new hires graduated from Liberty Public Schools.
Dr. Marriott said 18 of the new certificated hires are new to the profession, eight completed student teaching in LPS, and 51 of the new hires hold a master's degree or higher. The HR team said all certificated positions were filled except one non-classroom role caused by a late resignation.
On enrollment, the student equity and access report said kindergarten registration stood at 726 as of the meeting (an increase from about 687 in May), an uptick administrators called notable but not final. Staff said the district's September count submitted to the state is the definitive enrollment figure and that small shifts after the school year begins are routine. Administrators also discussed staffing contingency plans if additional kindergarten sections are needed once enrollment stabilizes.
