Sweet Home names Joe Lucente interim high-school principal; board approves personnel motions

The board welcomed Joe Lucente as the interim principal of Sweet Home High School. Board presenters said Lucente is a veteran administrator with decades in high-school administration and that the district will begin a recruitment process to find a permanent principal.
“One of the things I will say is he has hit the ground running,” a presenter said, noting Lucente’s experience and that the district will post the permanent position later in the week and include stakeholder groups in the hiring process.
Later in the meeting the board considered personnel items for teaching, administrative and support-service positions, including retirements and resignations and appointments for interscholastic activities and services. The board moved and approved the personnel agenda items; board members noted several retirements and that some resignations reflected staff moving into other district positions (for example, paraprofessionals moving into driver roles).
