MUNCIE — The Muncie Sanitary District commissioners on Aug. 20 unanimously approved Resolution 2025-11 to transfer $220,000 between district accounts to cover higher-than-anticipated insurance costs, District Administrator Rick Conrad said, and also approved a register of claims totaling $1,058,540.97.
Conrad told commissioners the transfer is an internal accounting move to allocate funds held in a central account for insurance across departments. “This is more about making sure we allocate the money correctly,” Conrad said, adding that the transfer will split the $220,000 among three departments that needed additional funding after insurance premiums rose last year.
The action was procedural: commissioners asked no substantive questions before a motion and second were called and the resolution passed unanimously. The board also approved minutes from its Aug. 6 meeting (vote recorded as 4–0) and approved the register of claims for $1,058,540.97. The meeting closed with a routine motion to adjourn that carried.
Why it matters: The transfer ensures departments have budgeted coverage for insurance expenses after premium increases, and the claims register reflects the district’s current expenditures and obligations. Conrad said the district adjusts allocations as invoices are received throughout the year because predicted departmental needs can change.
Meeting context and next steps: Commissioners recorded no dissent during the vote and gave unanimous approval to the resolution and routine items. No additional board directions or follow-up tasks were specified in the meeting record for the insurance allocation.
