The Bristol Senior Center will host a recognition ceremony for Vietnam-era veterans and their families on March 31 at 9 a.m. in the center cafeteria, staff said.
“We wanted to honor those who served and sacrificed during the Vietnam era. So we're recognizing all Vietnam era veterans and their families, and we're actually wanting to invite the community to come as well,” said Denise Born of the senior center. Born said Caris Healthcare will participate in the event and provide a commemorative pinning.
Born encouraged veterans who are not senior-center members to attend to learn about the center’s programs and noted the center’s new spring activity guide will include programs for all ages. She described the senior center as a place where members gather daily for coffee and conversation and where the community can reconnect.
The senior center’s broadcast remarks included membership details: the center is available to people age 50 and older, free to City of Bristol residents and $128 per year for non-residents. Additional registration or RSVP information for the March 31 ceremony was not specified on air.
