City Administrator Rick Niemeyer updated the Onalaska Common Council on several administrative items at the Sept. 9 meeting.
Niemeyer said the city will switch to a new timekeeping system on Sept. 14 and that staff will begin entering information into the new enterprise-resource-planning (ERP) system on Sept. 23 as the municipality transitions to UKG. He said a significant amount of staff training is planned over the following weeks and asked for patience during the conversion.
Niemeyer also announced that the Mississippi Valley Conservancy donated roughly 80 acres of bluff land near French Road to the city; the conservancy will retain a conservation easement to monitor appropriate uses. The city plans to make the property accessible for hiking, bird watching and nature-based education and recreation.
He reminded the public of an all-abilities playground groundbreaking scheduled for Monday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m., and thanked the Lions Club for its partnership. Niemeyer further noted the city is reviewing proposals for a police staffing and facility study and will report back when that review is complete.
No council vote was required on these informational items; staff indicated follow-up communications and scheduled events would be posted as appropriate.
