The Portsmouth Economic Development Authority on Aug. 18 announced two departures affecting the authority’s membership and staff.
Board resignation Chair or staff reported that board member Matthew James will resign from the EDA because of a conflict of interest with another board appointment. Staff said James chose to remain with the Virginia Retirement System board and will step down from the EDA; staff said recruitment for a replacement will begin soon.
Staff departure Staff announced that Economic Development staff member Chris Tillett has accepted a job in Largo, Florida, and will be relocating. Tillett told the authority he enjoyed working in Portsmouth and praised the team; staff said they will miss his contributions and that he will assist with transition matters.
Ending Staff said recruiting for the vacated board seat will begin and that they will provide transition plans and staffing updates to the authority.
