Pasco staff brief planning commission on transportation master plan, regional climate planning and energy resiliency study

City planning staff updated the Pasco Planning Commission on three ongoing or recently completed planning efforts: the Transportation System Master Plan, the state-mandated regional climate planning (greenhouse gas inventory and vulnerability assessment), and a recently completed energy resiliency study.
Staff said the Transportation System Master Plan is in data-collection and existing-conditions analysis and will include public engagement touchpoints as the consultant advances the plan. The regional climate planning effort, funded in part by the state Department of Commerce and conducted in partnership with nearby Tri-Cities jurisdictions, has produced draft policies, greenhouse gas inventories and vulnerability assessments; staff said the consultant will present to the commission on September 18 and a public open house is scheduled for September 23 from 6–8 p.m. at Pasco City Hall.
The energy resiliency study is complete and staff recently received the final report; staff offered to share the report file with commissioners on request and said elements of that study will be considered in the comprehensive plan update where appropriate.
Ending: Staff directed commissioners to upcoming engagement dates for public input; no formal action was taken on these updates.
