Tullahoma adopts fiscal-year 2024–25 budget ordinance, adds school budget detail

Tullahoma’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen adopted ordinance 16-58, amending ordinance 16-32 to adopt the annual budget and tax rate for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024, and ending June 30, 2025. The council passed the measure on third and final reading with a unanimous vote.

Before the final vote an alderman moved to amend the motion to include the schools’ budget information in the adopted record; the motion to amend — described by one member as an inclusion of the schools’ budget detail rather than a change in school funding — passed, and the main motion then passed 7-0.

The ordinance completes adoption of the prior fiscal year’s budget record. Council members noted that including school budget details was a clerical/information addition rather than a change in the school budgets themselves. The mayor later read into the record a commendation from the Tennessee Comptroller’s office acknowledging timely and well-presented budget submissions for the city’s 2026 budget materials.

The budget adoption concludes the city’s fiscal-year closeout actions; staff said they will proceed with any listed capital orders and purchases that were included in the adopted budget.
