Planning commission appoints representative to Moorhead Wellhead Protection Team

The Moorhead Planning Commission voted Sept. 9 to appoint a representative to the Moorhead Wellhead Protection Team, which will review amendments to the city’s wellhead protection plan for wells in the Moorhead and Buffalo aquifers.
City Planner Houston said the plan’s purpose is “to prevent human caused contaminants from entering our water supply wells and to safeguard public health.” Houston said meetings are expected to begin in November and will be held about once a month for roughly six months. Houston also said a planning commission member and the planning department will serve on the team.
A commissioner moved to appoint “Bob” as the planning commission’s representative; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
