The San Juan Economic Development Corporation approved a $5,000 contribution to Machine Matters, a nonprofit that operates subsidized housing and wraparound services for single mothers, and took several administrative actions after an executive session Tuesday evening.
Machine Matters representative described the nonprofit’s housing program and asked the board for annual support. The organization said it manages 16 units in a development called Christian Estates and rents those units at roughly 30 percent of resident income, with wraparound services aimed at helping residents complete college and enter higher-paying work. One participant in the program graduated in May with a registered nursing degree, the presenter said.
