Commissioners noted the training hours required for each program — Firefighter I (186 hours) and EMT (166 hours plus clinicals) — and urged stations to use graduation publicity as a recruitment tool. Commissioner Jason Lovelace said he would contact a local videographer to explore additional recruitment materials.
Commissioners and chiefs emphasized gratitude to volunteers, career members who teach, dispatchers and the board of supervisors for budget support of classes. The commission asked staff and association members to continue outreach and consider countywide recruitment materials.
