He noted the statewide NERIS reporting system will replace the older system (spoken as ‘‘nephrous’’ in the meeting) and is expected to start in January 2026; county agencies’ ESO reporting product will interface with the new requirement and training will be scheduled.
Hutcherson reported the third round of portable radio purchases is underway with distribution planned in October; the county has been acquiring approximately 100 radios per year for the recent rounds. A systemwide upgrade to radio computer equipment was also under way. SCBA fit testing is available and ongoing. He reminded departments about the aid‑to‑localities and 4‑for‑life funding rounds and urged agencies to turn in receipts to access funds.
Commissioners discussed whether the state would absorb ESO subscription costs for EMS reporting; Hutcherson said he had not seen confirmation and advised departments to budget accordingly. Hutcherson and others asked that ESO users watch for training on the new NERIS requirement and prepare for a January go‑live.
