Rachel Miller, deputy assessor, told the Riverside Township Board that county property-tax bills are delayed while Cook County continues work on a Tyler Technologies property-tracking project and associated deadlines have been missed.
Miller said the county has a new “property tracker” on its website and that several deadlines originally set for Sept. 4 were not met. She said the county is aiming for an Oct. 1 mailing of tax bills with a potential Nov. 1 due date, but stressed that “nothing is confirmed.” Miller said the township has reserves and is not expecting to borrow to meet short-term obligations, though she warned the delay could have future impacts on township cash flow.
Miller also notified the board that she and Assessor Fran Sikowitz plan to attend a legal symposium on Sept. 30 for continuing education. The deputy assessor said residents are already asking to be added to the township email and phone call lists for bill-related updates and that the township newsletter remains a useful outreach channel.
