The Covington City Council recognized State Representative Deborah Intamin at its Aug. 12 meeting and announced a ribbon-cutting for the Jenkins Creek Trail entrance at Founders Park on Aug. 21 at 5 p.m.
Mayor Wagner presented Representative Deborah Intamin with a token of appreciation and thanked her for assistance on transportation projects that benefited Covington, including support that helped the city move toward construction of the Jenkins Creek Trail. Council members described the representative as having helped the city secure transportation funding and urged continued collaboration.
Council members said the Jenkins Creek Trail will run from Founders Park under the new bridge on King and proceed toward Jacobs Creek, and they invited the public to the planned grand opening and ribbon-cutting at 5 p.m. on Aug. 21. The council provided the representative a gift bag in the city colors and invited her to the small reception following the meeting.
Representative Intamin thanked the council for the recognition and said she was honored to represent Covington, Auburn and Kent and to help advance transportation projects.
No formal council action beyond the ceremonial recognition and event announcement was taken on the trail at the meeting; council members said the project is moving toward construction and that further details would be provided separately as construction and plat dedications progress.
