The Romulus Community Schools Board of Education unanimously approved an amended meeting agenda and then approved the consent agenda — including new personnel hires and district bills totaling $1,187,856.02 — at its Sept. 8 meeting.
Trustee Laster moved to accept the meeting agenda as amended to add new hires to the consent agenda; Trustee Kennard supported the motion. The board voted by roll call with Laster, Kennard, McCarthy, Davis, Kamal and Rogers voting yes. “Motion is approved,” the board secretary recorded.
The personnel additions added to the consent agenda were presented by Human Resources Director Kevin Brock and include the following hires as read into the record: Antoinette Smith, special education resource teacher, Romulus High School (RHS); Mariah Love, GSRP support staff, RECC; Nariah Hood, GSRP support staff, RECC; Kelvin Tai, physical education teacher, RHS; Catherine Stockert, library media specialist, RHS; Danielle Hall, special education social worker, Barth; Crystal Nelson, special education paraprofessional, Romulus Elementary; and Katrina Vaughn, special education resource teacher, WIC.
Later in the meeting the board approved the consent agenda as presented. Trustee Rogers moved and Trustee McCarthy supported the motion. The consent agenda language read aloud included: approval of the Aug. 25, 2025 regular meeting minutes; approval of bills for payment as submitted by Dana Blair in the amount of $1,187,856.02; approval of financial statements for August 2025; and approval of the personnel actions previously added to the consent agenda. The roll call vote recorded Rogers, McCarthy, Kamal, Laster, Kennard and Davis as voting yes; the motion was approved.
No dissenting votes were recorded on the motions. The consent agenda is handled as a single motion unless an item is pulled for separate discussion.
