Flat Rock honors two firefighters; local church praises department’s emergency response

A department representative recognized part‑time Firefighter Matt Hammond for 10 consecutive years of service and Captain John Rose for 20 years; Captain Rose was introduced as the department’s EMS coordinator who manages supplies, QA for medical reporting and training for new employees.
During citizens to be heard, Tim Weinshacker, president of the First Congregational Church of Flat Rock, thanked the fire department for a rapid response to a 911 call when a person became stuck in a building lift. Weinshacker said four trained professionals arrived and assisted the resident, and he asked that the council pass along the congregation’s appreciation.
