The Flat Rock City Council approved a street‑closure request to close Seneca between Eastern River Drive and the alley behind the applicant’s building for a July 3 customer‑appreciation event.
An event organizer asked for the closure to celebrate a five‑year anniversary on July 1 with a July 3 street event, vendors and collaboration with a local food truck. The organizer requested a variance to allow food trucks within 100 feet of two buildings; council members supported the closure and the variance motion was approved.
Council approved the request with a motion and support from members on the floor. The organizer said proceeds would include a small benefit to a local resident named Doug who is ill.
