District facilities staff briefed the board on Sept. 9 about ongoing construction and maintenance projects across Springdale schools.
The multipurpose field at Harbor High had a concrete pour and crews planned to install padding and turf next; rain had delayed work the previous week. An HVAC upgrade at Georgia Elementary is complete; the presenter said the project closed with about $36,000 in savings to the district.
The district is finishing the industrial arts shop and the PDC (Professional Development Center). The industrial arts space requires final contractor wiring and a few roofing/awning finish items; staff said equipment has been placed and final floor polishing is scheduled.
Design work for Westwood was nearing completion, including plumbing and HVAC selections; staff expected to submit the package to the city planning commission and council and hoped to break ground in the second week of November pending approvals. Renderings and floor plans will be presented at the next meeting.
The presenter also described potential covered hospitality and band-bleacher structures at Harbor and Spring Hill High and said cost estimating was ongoing.
