Activities handbook updates: adult pass fees increased; district adopts first formal roster selection language
Summary

The ROCORI Public School District board reviewed proposed updates to the activities handbook. The notable financial change raised the cost of adult passes: a husband/wife pass increased from $160 to $175 and a single adult pass increased by $15 to $115 for the school year.
Administrators also presented roster‑selection language aligned with conference practice that would allow, in some sports, coaches discretion to reduce team rosters when logistical or budget constraints require smaller teams. Board members discussed options such as establishing maximum roster sizes (for example, a larger cap for football and smaller caps for basketball) so that roster decisions are not entirely discretionary.
Board members said the roster‑selection language is not entirely new in practice — coaches have previously cut players without a written policy — and discussed tradeoffs between maximum participation and operational limits, such as bus capacity. The activities director and administration will provide further guidance on roster limits and how the policy would be applied before the board takes final action.
No formal vote was taken on the activities handbook at the meeting; the changes were presented for review and will return for approval at a future meeting.
