County orders 3,000 folded Hubbard County maps and authorizes surplus equipment auction

Hubbard County commissioners approved a low quote of $3,130.89 from Pro Print to produce 3,000 folded paper Hubbard County maps for distribution at the courthouse and through the Chamber. Highway staff said the new print run will include minor changes — chiefly updated paved roads — but no major boundary or trail changes.
“We had some roads that have been paved since then, so just changes like that,” Andrea, highway staff, told the board.
The board also authorized putting a list of surplus highway and natural resources equipment up for auction on KBID and, if expected proceeds exceed $15,000, placing a two-week notice in the newspaper for major items. Highway staff said items on the surplus list include older trucks and a 2016 Silverado with 60,939 miles that the department is considering keeping for use in the Nevis shop and using sale proceeds to buy out a lease on another pickup.
Commissioners asked whether townships could receive vehicles without a public sale; staff said state procurement rules require a competitive process such as sealed quotes rather than simply gifting equipment to a township. The highway office said departments sometimes review the list before auction in case an in-county need exists and that items can be pulled from the auction if needed.
Both the map printing and the surplus-equipment auction were approved by voice vote; motions carried.
