Eagan council approves vacation of drainage easements and final plat for West Publishing Company property

The Eagan City Council on June 17 approved the vacation of several drainage and utility easements and approved a final plat that consolidates three previously platted parcels into one lot totaling about 85 acres at 3775 Highway 149 (West Publishing Company ninth edition).

City staff said the vacation petition was filed by a representative of the property owner, and that notices were published and mailed to affected property owners; staff reported no unresolved objections. Public Works Director Russ Mathes explained that new public easements will be provided as part of the replat and that the vacation would clear underlying dedications to allow the replatting.

A representative for the property owner, Harry Gallagher, said the replat would consolidate the outlot with a larger lot and provide proper access to the warehouse building; council members confirmed the three parcels would be combined into a single parcel.

Councilmember Hansen moved to approve the vacation of the drainage and utility easements (including ponding and utility easement document number 90220); the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. Hansen then moved to approve the final plat, West Publishing Company ninth edition, to create one lot of approximately 85 acres located at 3775 Highway 149; that motion also carried by voice vote.

Both votes were recorded as carried; the transcript does not include a roll-call tally. City staff noted the new public easements will be shown on the recorded plat and that construction and access conditions will be addressed through the platting process.
