The Thief River Falls City Council voted to renew a school resource officer (SRO) agreement with the Falls School District for three academic years beginning Sept. 1, 2025.
Chief of Police explained the renewal continues the existing arrangement with no changes to the contract terms. The agreement covers three consecutive school-year terms: Sept. 1, 2025'May 31, 2026; Sept. 1, 2026'May 31, 2027; and Sept. 1, 2027'May 31, 2028.
Councilman Lang (mover) and Councilwoman McCraw (second) offered the motion to approve the renewal; the council approved the motion by voice vote.
The chief said the city and school district signed the arrangement following a meeting with Dr. Mills and that the renewal represents continuation of the existing SRO relationship. The council did not record a roll-call tally in the public transcript and provided no additional funding details during the meeting.
