Madison County panel approves site plan for Movie Town RV Park expansion

The Madison County Planning and Zoning Commission approved a site plan to expand the office and relocate the laundry at Movie Town RV Park, now operating as The Landing At Movie Town.

The expansion will add about 1,000 square feet to the existing building, move the laundry to the rear, and create a covered picnic area overlooking the playground, project partner Nick Newcomb told the commission. “We are moving the existing laundry room and gonna put new storefront glass across the front ... and then we're gonna add on directly to the back of [the] building ... to build a new laundry room and then a covered picnic area that overlooks the current playground,” Newcomb said.

The applicant said the project does not change the campground’s use and that the laundry room’s size will remain the same after relocation. Newcomb also described existing parking as “ample,” noting eight spaces to the left of the building and two each to the front left and front right.

Commissioners asked about the addition’s size and parking. The applicant confirmed the addition was “a thousand even,” and there were no proposed changes to the number of parking spaces. A commissioner moved to approve the site plan; the motion was seconded and carried with a unanimous voice vote.

The commission’s approval allows the developer to move forward with the building alterations under the county’s site-plan process; no permit conditions beyond the recorded motion were read into the public record during the meeting.
