The Pelham Union Free School District told the board on Aug. 7 that new HVAC units for the middle school arrived, have been placed on the roof and that connection work will continue over the next two weeks.
"Thankfully, the, the new HVAC units arrived, and they have been placed on the roof. And now the connection work, is gonna be continuing over the next 2 weeks," Dr. Champ said, noting brief street closures were necessary to accommodate cranes during installation.
The board thanked facilities staff for coordinating the move and noted summer programs continued in the buildings during installation. "Thanks to John Congen too for his coordination, working with the administrators and custodial staff because we do actually still have school programs going on during the summer in the buildings," Dr. Champ said.
Separately, Dr. Champ described a newly opened fitness room funded by a donation from Friends of Pelham Sports. She said the space is being actively used by teams and students and that staff and volunteers coordinated construction and grant support for the facility.
"It's really physically making a difference for our students," Dr. Champ said of the fitness room, which the board credited to the donor group and to facilities staff for coordination.
The meeting did not include any separate vote specific to the HVAC work or the fitness room; the updates were provided as part of the superintendent's report.
