Policy chair Mister Thielen summarized the items as principally administrative implementations of new state requirements rather than substantive changes to daily practice. Items approved for first reading included: a new policy aligning the district with Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) requirements; extracurricular participation rules implementing recent statutory changes about team designation and non‑resident participation; a new cell‑phone policy required by statute; a separate dress code policy that formalizes existing code‑of‑conduct practices; updated notices and recordkeeping procedures for parent notification around certain surveys; and updates on public‑meeting notices to include a state central repository.
Thielen said the policies were written to mirror current district practices; board members asked administrators to continue enforcing dress and cell‑phone expectations in schools and to provide the policy committee with recommended refinements.
The board recorded the motion to approve the first reading of the listed policies and the motion passed by roll call.
