The Oak Park Planning Commission on July 14 approved a site plan for an existing outdoor storage area at 21410 (site number referenced in staff report) that will replace the concrete front screen wall with a landscaping buffer. City planning staff said the site is existing and the applicant does not propose changes to the storage operations; the only requested change is substituting a planted buffer for the concrete wall. Staff recommended approval with conditions listed in the staff report.
A planning staff member told the commission that the landscaping buffer must meet the same screening height as the wall at the time of planting — six feet — and that the commission has approved landscaping buffers in place of walls in past cases.
The commission voted to approve the site plan. Commissioner Whitehead, Commissioner Eiselman, Commissioner McClellan, Commissioner Seligson, Commissioner Tekach, Commissioner Walters Gill and Vice Chairperson Brown voted yes; the motion passed.
