Council votes: final plat, ordinances, contracts and program rebrand approved
Summary
At its June 18 meeting the Homestead City Council approved a final plat, several second-reading ordinances, a program rebranding, and awarded an architecture/engineering RFQ; roll-call votes were recorded for each item.
The Homestead City Council recorded votes on multiple agenda items at its June 18 meeting. Summary of actions follows.
Final plat approval (Tab 3): Resolution granting final plat approval to Homestead Midtown Holdings LLC for an approximate 20-acre horizontal mixed-use project with about 30,018 square feet of commercial retail and 354 multifamily dwelling units passed by roll call after a waived staff report. The vote carried.
Shopping cart ordinance (Tab 4): First reading of an ordinance to establish a shopping-cart control plan passed on first reading with council direction to remove the 5,000-square-foot test and enforce when stores have over 10 carts; six-month compliance for existing businesses was adopted. Moratorium on certain residential development (Tab 5): Second reading approved to extend a moratorium on specified multifamily and similar residential development for six months; Councilman Roth voted no. (See separate article.)
Program rebrand (Tab 6): The council adopted a resolution approving renaming the Homestead Energy Lendahan program to the Homestead Customer Assistance for Reliable Essential Services and authorized the community development and human services division to assume administration.
Contracting/RFQ award (Tab 7): The council awarded RFQ 202502 for architectural and engineering services for the Whitcott Park water treatment facility project to H2M Architects and Engineers Inc and authorized the city manager to negotiate a contract.
Expanded recreational vehicles (Tab 8): Second reading of an ordinance creating a presumption of violation when recreational vehicles are expanded while parked on residential property passed on second reading.
Business tax receipt amendments (Tab 9): A second-reading ordinance amending application and term provisions for business tax receipts passed as a cleanup item to resolve a code “chicken-and-egg” issue.
